Slap me around

I really need to stop feeling sorry for myself and do more for people, around the house, and things that make me happy. My daugther-in-law is going to school, working, pregnant with our second grandchild ( grandson is 11 months) and could really use more of my help. I fix them supper most nights, help watch the baby as much as possible, and let her use my internet for school. BUT can i not do more??

What about my daughter that leaves home during the week at 6:30 (sometimes earlier) to drive 30 miles to teach school. She is a first year teacher and has several classes after school. Usually when she comes home and on weekends she is helping her SIL with school work and with the baby. But can I do more for her???

Right now I'm so scared about the budget I'm working on. This is the first time I've done this as director and it is very overwhelming and I have worked on it for a month now. It is due in Greenville on Friday, Feb 27th by 5pm. I need to get this done and done now. On Thursday we are having open house in Blacksburg and need to get things done for that.

However, so many times I just sit on the couch or lay in the bed feeling sorry for myself. How stupid can I be. I have so much going for me and I'm just letting it slip away. I have so much to give.............and that's where my word for the year came from. Joan - straighten up and GIVE!!!!!!!!

PS. Thanks for the comment

Sunday

I have just finished my first swap project for www.swap-bot.com. I had to make 10 notecards and send them 5 to 2 ladies (one live in Virginia and the other one in California). I had fun making them and hope they enjoye using them. They are suppose to be mailed out by tomorrow, but the post office is closed. My next swap is making 2 decoupaged bangle bracelets. I am looking forward to making these and getting mine. I am in 2 more swaps. This can be fun.

The title of my blog - "Giving" is my word for the year. I want to be more giving of my time, talents, money, etc. My son's girlfriend and I have been making bracelets to give to "Princess for a Day" program for GA's/Acteens in Cherokee County. We both enjoy making jewelry and I thought this would be a great way to "give". I found some beads at Big Lot's and bought all they had. Hopefully we will have around 50 bracelets. I hope I don't sound like I boasting about my "giving", but I do want to share a few of my "givings" with you.

Thursday thoughts real quick.......

I am on facebook and would love to be your friend. I also enjoy playing scrabble on facebook and would love to challenge you to a game.

I joined www.swap-bot.com yesterday and this looks to be very fun!!! I have joined 4 swaps already. I will let you know how they go.

Later

Tuesday was a good day

I stayed home and worked on the office budget for the coming fiscal year. I also worked on some other "stuff" from the office. It was good to be home alone to get some work done.

After I worked awhile, I decided to take a break and rode up to Forest City. I went to my favorite bead store - Off the beaded path - and spoke with the owner, Kelly, about some classes here at the center. She is going to have her friend call me. I got some neat jewelry stuff (when wooden bangles that fit my hand!!!!!!!). Then I went to Ryan's where I ate for $6.39 (she gave me the senior discount - YEAH). The food was really good - especially the fried chicken and the banana pudding. Then I went to the other bead store and got a couple of things to make. But my best shopping was done a the Mighty Dollar store. I got sara lee bread for 1.00 a loaf (and it still had a good date), scrapbook stuff, drinks, picture frames, puzzle books (for the office and my brother) - BUT - the best thing was - Autumn Leaves clear stamps (a limit of 1 style per family per day and they had 7 styles) - I got sassy alpha, scribbles hearts and stars, messy dates, brushed alphabet, word art v I,
brushed flowers, and mindy's alphas. I hope to go back on Thursday to get another set of the clear stamps for a fundraiser crop we are going to have here at the senior center (where I work) in June.

On the way home, my DIL called and wanted to know if I could come by the day care where she works and pick up my grandson. Of course I said YES!!!! After I picked him up, I took him to see his great-nana for a little while. Then home to fix supper for the family.

All in all, it was a great day for me.

Christmas

I have been buying some Christmas presents the past several days. I have really found some good bargains. I even started a file on the computer with a list of what I've bought. Most of the presents are in my car, so I need to get them out in the morning once everyone leaves the house and put them up. Then I need to clean the van out and get it vaccumed.

I need to make some valentine cards. i bought the kids a candy bar and i want to make a sleeve for the bars. I usually make a card for my son to give his wife and my other son to give to his girlfriend.

Ok, I'll be back later
